Stopped by the dealer and drove one. It’s every bit as fun with the DSG as the FiST, and just better overall. I’ve already been offered pay off for the Fiesta, let’s see what they can work on a Green SE.

Nice, glad you liked it, even compared to a smaller/nimbler car like the FiST. I just recommended a GTI to a friend whose 2006-ish Subaru Outback just bit the dust. He has two kids, but mostly just commutes 400+ miles/week out of state.

I should have taken you for a drive when we were at the Tail of the Dragon, but it doesn’t seem like you need any convincing. I definitely like the DSG, even if I am looking at cars with manuals all the time. Sport mode on that transmission is fun, and the paddles are responsive.
I wish green was an option when I bought mine. Good luck with your deal!

DSGs are great but I bet you’ll find yourself missing a manual in a few months. I’ve had both and yeah the dsg’s can be fun but they get boring comparatively and imo are only the better choice in a very fast car.

The DSG in the Mk7 GTI is fantastic. I went from a MKV GTI with the manual (truly glorious transmission) to a MK7 with DSG and a 996 with a 6 speed. The DSG is the best transmission out of all of them and damn near perfect. Feeling lazy? Leave it in D and it is smooth but instantly kicks down when needed. Want more fun? Paddles! It is perfect. Never imagined it prior to my MK7, but damn. I’d take that transmission over anything else on the market.
